for December 2005.

We used to have a bank called Norwest Bank, if you remember, but in the year 2000 they merged and took on a new name - Wells Fargo.  The faces were the same and so was the friendly, personal service, which they had before but it just got better. The people that work there genuinely care for and are looking for ways to help their customers.  It’s nice to know you are recognized and called by your first name when you step through their doors.

Deb Rausch, Store Manager of 10 years at Dells has been in banking since 1980 for a total of 25 years.  She grew up in Dell Rapids and is a graduate of DRHS. Deb and her husband, John, have 3 children. Katie is a nurse at Avera/McKennan, Kyle is a sophomore at SDSU, and Jason is a junior at DRHS.  Her banking staff has a great amount of experience as well.

The Dell Rapids staff serves on various community boards, participates in junior achievement, volunteers at the schools teaching “hands-on banking”, K-12 web interface teaching courses, provides scholarships for seniors for SD education (higher learning), school homecomings and the yearly Quarry Days celebration.  They help Senior Citizens and Veterans with seminars for finances and other banking needs. They possess access to various resources in different areas and are experts in many diverse areas. 

Deb told me what she likes best about her job is being able to do a variety of things besides managing like being on the street meeting people, students, and business people.  She says her job is never boring because there is diversity in what employees can do.

What she likes best about Dell Rapids is knowing everyone, greeting people by their first name and the comfort of a small close knit community.  She likes knowing that if something happens to her or someone else, there is someone close by to help by giving that personal touch you don’t always get in a big city environment.

I asked Deb if she might have some words of wisdom for us and she was quoted saying, “Have fun with what you’re doing! If you enjoy what you’re doing – you’ve got the perfect job.  You can’t be afraid to do extra or more than is asked of you.  When you do you’ll reap benefits far unknown.”

She also added, “We need to be proud of what we have in Dell Rapids, and appreciate our rich community resources.”

Wells Fargo provides 24-hour phone banking for many banking needs including 24/7/365 loans and Internet banking. Their hours are:

Monday – Thursday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fridays  - 8 to 5:30 p.m.

Saturdays - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

(Includes drive up) - 24 hour ATM
