I spoke with Michelle Bunkers last week about some of the highlights of Home Federal Bank and their philosophy about banking.  Michelle, a veteran banker of 18 yrs, stepped into the Dell Rapids Branch Manager’s position 6 months ago.  She shines with a willingness to help the people of our community with their financial plans and goals. 

As well, the staff she manages continually emanates a passion for excellence and appreciation for each and every person they serve. They know you by name.  They love working with the smaller community environment to keep the relationships alive and inviting.

As a strong community bank committed to making financial dreams come true for their customers, community involvement is an integral part of their business culture. They participate in community-driven needs mainly in the areas of economic development, human services, education and arts/culture. They also encourage their employees to contribute time and talent to the community they serve. ¹

Home Federal has served our community for 23 plus years and is publicly held and based in South Dakota.  They participate in many local events and serve the community with donations and funding for numerous activities.  Junior Achievement, Farm & Home Show, Quarry Days, Parades and sporting events are but a few of the credits they deserve praise for.

Home Federal Bank was originally chartered on March 20, 1929 as Home Federal Savings Association. Since 1992 the organization has operated under a federal savings bank charter with the name, Home Federal Savings Bank. Their name changed in 2001 to Home Federal Bank to better signify they are a full-service community bank offering a large array of products and services.  Home Federal has also supported numerous Habitat chapters in the creation of 85 South Dakota homes. ²
