Welcome to Dell Rapids and Minnehaha County. We have a diversity of historic buildings, residential charm, commercial & industrial areas, and natural beauty that is unique to the Mid-West Region.

The center of Dell Rapids is a historic downtown with large pink quartz structures as a traditional "Main Street", has been restored through personal & business revitalization projects. Many restaurants, shops, and offices line the street that was part of the Old Main Street of Dells City. The Old Opera House & other landmark banks, museum and specialty shops populate the buildings of downtown.

Just 18 miles south of Dell Rapids lies the city of Sioux Falls, the states largest community and industrial center. The region is blessed with transportation opportunities. Residents and businesses are located just minutes from two interstate highways, Joe Foss Field Airport, and Greyhound Bus Lines.

We have it all — a small-town feeling with the convenience and opportunities of a metropolitan area.

Education and Recreation
Several Universities in Minnehaha & Brookings County, the Sioux Falls Community College campus, and several private and public schools, in the southeast regions of South Dakota offer educational opportunities at every level, from pre-kindergarten through graduate school and adult continuing education. Residents are well educated, with one in three having a college degree, one in ten having a graduate or professional diploma.

The community places a high value on education. A large proportion of Minnehaha County’s children, about 90% are enrolled in public school, reflecting the county’s success in providing quality education. The elementary and secondary program that includes Gifted and Talented, careers, and internships, and quality instruction, is designed to prepare all students to compete successfully in the 21^st-century arena.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Dell Rapids has access to Big Sioux River for fishing, boating and hiking activities . A leisurely stroll through the trails around the river rapids and dells basin bring you through a woodland area with opportunities for picnicking, hiking, and picture perfect camera shots of majestic pink quartz pillars and walls to the south and a spacious city park with all the amenities you could ask for on a family outing. The Trails Committee has provided our area with an excellent walking path. Playground equipment, horseshoe pits, basketball courts, volleyball and tennis courts, picnic shelters, swimming pool and several ball diamonds are within the huge park area..

Explore Local History
The Society for Historical Preservation has provided a  Museum on the Main Street 400 block, with museum hours: 10:00am — 4:00pm Tuesday through Saturday. The Circle Tour of historic buildings and places can be walked in about an hour and shows the great artistic engineering of Victorian style homes and building from the early 1800 era.

The Best in Holiday Activities
The region is famous for holiday extravaganzas including Cootie Days, Annual Quarry Days with Parade and Fireworks and the Blast from the Past Car Show, and Christmas at the Dells with train and horse drawn rides, parade of lights and numerous occasions for holiday fun and cheer .
